Departure point: From the "Gresse en Vercors" signpost (just beside the tourist office).

1) Follow the "La casse" signpost along the road beside the church. Turn left onto the D8a towards the northern exit of the village. After a few hundred meters, find the "La casse" signpost.

2) From the "La casse" post, first take the tarmac road, then continue on a pleasant forest track. Follow the path, which then becomes a good climb. At the top, turn left onto the tarmac road. Continue a little further to the Serpaton parking lot (here you'll have a magnificent view of the Vercors). Observe the remains of an old cable that once carried milk up and down the mountain. Enter the mountain pasture and take the road up to the summit (1km). Pass the sheepfold and enjoy the view. Take time to observe the mountain pastures with their cows and mountain flowers. When you reach the summit ("Pas du Serpaton" post), you'll have a bird's-eye view of the Belledonne, Ecrins and Dévoluy massifs. Take advantage of the panoramic view to rest.

3) Take the path in the opposite direction. Go downhill and observe the hall-like building. Enter the building, where an exhibition on the history of the mountain pasture can be seen. Turn around and head south on the tarmac road to find a downhill path on the right. Follow the path to the bottom. Find the "La Casse" signpost.

4) From "La Casse", turn left onto the main road back to the village of Gresse en Vercors. Pass behind the church to reach the starting point.
