L'écoquartier Bouchayer-Viallet

  • Historic site and monument

At the end of the 19th century, Bouchayer-Viallet was the scene of an industry that played a major role in Grenoble's development.

It was here, in fact, that the hydroelectric penstocks were built, a major activity that gave rise to the Berriat district. Abandoned for more than forty years, the wasteland has been transformed into an urban eco-neighborhood with innovative architecture, connected to its urban environment and teeming with activity.

Economic hub

Situated at the western entrance to Grenoble, close to the train station, the A480, Presqu'Ile and the city center, its strategic location is an asset for economic players. Companies such as Elegia, Delta Drone, Bonitasoft and Groupe 6, one of France's leading architectural firms, have set up operations here, as well as two business halls. To support its attractiveness, 20,000 m2 of additional office space, including the Caisse d'Epargne head office and a co-working space, will soon be added to the existing tertiary sector offering.

Cultural

A concert at La Belle électrique, a play at L'Ampérage, a contemporary art exhibition at Magasin des Horizons, a percussion workshop with the Mann'art(e) collective... cultural events are all on offer in Bouchayer-Viallet. You can also take a trip back in time to industrial history, as the Espace Vertical climbing gym was built in a former hall, as was the CNAC, which moved into a hall built in 1900.

For young people

With the inauguration of the Transfo in 2018, no fewer than 6 associations are now catering for Grenoble's youth. These include Cap Berriat, which provides advice and training for young people on all their associative projects. Unis Cité opens the way to civic service for young people aged 16 to 25, and the Institut de l'Engagement offers individualized support to enable young people to realize their future, despite educational, cultural, social or financial barriers.

Warm

A new brasserie, green streets, local shops, a parents' crèche... thanks to these new meeting and sharing places, Bouchayer-Viallet is a neighborhood on the move, perpetuating the district's popular community tradition.
