Eglise Sainte Marguerite
Located in the heart of the village of Miribel-Lanchâtre, the church dates back to the 12th century.
The first traces of the "Sainte Marguerite" church in Miribel-Lanchâtre date back to 1178. At the time, it belonged to the village of L'enchâtre and was part of the archpriesthood "d'au delà du Drac".
By 1340, it was on its present site, and by 1375 Miribel was already attached to this parish.
Rebuilt larger in the 1870s, it was blessed on October 1, 1881, retaining its original location, Latin cross shape and bronze bell with an inscription from 1694.
In 1948, during construction work, a number of Burgundian (a Germanic people who settled in the Rhône basin in 443) era lauze tombs were discovered.
Since 1826, the church of Miribel Lanchâtre has belonged to the parish of Saint Loup, whose website contains a comprehensive and beautiful article on the history of this church. http://www.saintloup-cathisere.cef.fr/article161.html
