Chamrousse alpine ski slopes of the 1968 Olympics
Chamrousse is the only French ski resort to host all of the alpine skiing events at the 1968 Olympic Games, on the slopes of Chamrousse 1650 - Recoin (women’s downhill and slalom) and Casserousse for the men’s downhill.
The French team shines on the slopes of the Belledonne massif in Chamrousse: eight medals (out of the nine won in 1968 by the French delegation) including the three titles of Jean-Claude Killy and that of Marielle Goitschel.
Today, it is still possible to descend these slopes of the Olympic Games from the sector Chamrousse 1650 - Recoin, even if that of Casserousse was modified to make it more accessible.
Legendary ski slopes:
- "Olympique Hommes" slope - Casserousse (black and red): initially created for the 1968 Olympic Games under the name Casserousse, the Men’s Olympic Track has undergone many changes during its existence. The last were undertaken with a view to certification in Giant (competition).
- "Olympique Dames" slope (red): track for the women’s downhill event that allows you to descend on the resort in one pass from the top of the Croix of Chamrousse.
