Through chestnut forests

This 11-km itinerary visits the upper village of Saint-Chef (a street named Rue Vie des Granges, the district of La Chapelle and an old silk mill), and the Isle Crémieu hills more generally.

The forest paths reveal mostly chestnut trees mingled with hornbeam, ash, oaks and beeches. The lack of direct sunlight not only makes this the ideal trail for hot weather but also encourages the development of specific species of flower such as primrose, violet and scilla. You'll then discover the school once attended by Frédéric Dard and the former dwelling of Antoine Pécaudy de Contrecoeur, the valiant Captain who served under Louis XIV. Views include Le Bugey, the northern Alps and Mont Blanc.
