Bike labels

With a wide range of cycling facilities on offer, Isère has built up a reputation as a welcoming place for cycle tourists. Here’s an overview of the cycling labels.

“Accueil vélo”

‘Accueil Vélo,’ meaning Cyclists Welcome, is a French national label given to businesses that provide a warm welcome and quality services specifically designed for cycle tourists along bike routes. These services include bicycle-friendly amenities like secure bike shelters, repair kits, useful information, sporting advice, luggage transport and recommended cycling routes.

In Isère, 75 establishments have earned the ‘Accueil Vélo’ label, including tourist offices, accommodation, bike hire and repair shops, restaurants and tourist attractions.

“Accueil Cyclo Oisans”

With its many winding roads, challenging routes, legendary passes and spectacular scenery, the Oisans is a destination of choice for all cycling enthusiasts.

To make sure cycling tourists receive a warm welcome, the area has created its own label for accommodation: ‘Accueil Cyclo Oisans’.

This quality label guarantees cycle-friendly hospitality with services and facilities tailored to cyclists (lockable bike shed, repair facilities, cycle-touring meals, support vehicles, training).

The label carries a 1- bike, 2- bike or 3- bike classification, depending on the services and facilities offered by the accommodation provider. Throughout the Oisans region, 90 hotels, holiday homes and guest houses have been awarded the label, helping to improve the quality of cycling facilities.

“E-bike service”

In response to the growing popularity of electrically-assisted bicycles or e-bikes, the Oisans is broadening its range of tourist attractions by targeting a new type of cycle tourism with the ‘E-Bike Service’ label.

At least 52 establishments (retailers, service providers or accommodation providers) have promised to make electrical sockets available free of charge to cyclists who need to recharge their batteries.
