(1) From the Plan de Ville esplanade, cross the square and head towards Carlinière along the red and white signposted path «on the left under the Du Bois des Lièvres shopping centre». Go down on the path then cross the stream «le Couzon» by a small concrete footbridge and follow the yellow marked path to Carlinière.

(2) Continue on your left by the road in the direction of La Correrie. At the end of this road, in Bernière, follow the path which goes to the right along a typical Chartreuse barn. Admire on this passage in the direction of the Correrie, a magnificent view of the Dent de Crolles and Chamechaude overhanging the various hamlets of St Pierre de Chartreuse. Then continue on this path which will lead you by a slightly steep descent to the «Porte de l’Enclos» which is the gateway to the Grande Chartreuse Desert.

(3) Join the departmental road linking St Pierre de Chartreuse and St Laurent du Pont and follow it on your right for 100 m, paying attention to the traffic, until you find a small pathway going up on the right marked out in yellow and red. Take this wooded path which leads to the road of the Grande Chartreuse Museum. You will end up taking this road for 200 m until you reach the Museum gate.

(4) Return: At the exit of the Museum, take the path on the left that you took on the way to the departmental road linking St Pierre de Chartreuse and St Laurent Du Pont.

(5) Cross the road and the pedestrian bridge. Admire the sculptures representing the arrival of St Bruno in Chartreuse. Take the path that goes up on the right towards the Grand Logis. Pass between the Chapelle St Hugues and the Hôtellerie du Grand Logis (former residence for the Monastery’s guests), (6) Follow the road on the left as it descends to the Diat. Turn right, follow the main road over the Pont de la Dame, then at the crossroads turn right onto the GR9 (white and red markings) as far as Bois du Ban. Continue towards the town plan.
