Dolphins' House
Built in the 16th century in a Renaissance style. The facade is registered on the Historic Monuments due to its Antiquity architecture referencies.
This beautiful house probably dates from the end of the 16th century and is characteristic of urban Renaissance residences. Due to its position, this building plays an important role in the rue d'Italie, a former royal street. Its name reminds us that the third "lineage" of the Dauphins came from the de la Tour family - lord of the place. The façade on the street, in particular, is full of decorative elements referring to Greek and Roman antiquity.
The house still retains its spiral staircase leading to a vaulted basement. Restored a few years ago, the building now houses various public places : on the first floor, a reception area on the one hand, an exhibition room and on the other hand, on the side of the rue de Châbons, the "Maison du Patrimoine (heritage house)", which presents private collections and those of the association "La Tour Prend Garde".
