2 days with your family in the mountain pastures of Tréminis (Trièves) to discover the life of a shepherd with his 250 cows. The immersion program includes a daily tour, wildlife discovery, wild plant picking for dinner and an astronomy evening.
A mini-break for families in the mountain pastures of Tréminis (Trièves) to discover the life of a shepherd with 250 cows. Immerse yourself in the daily life of a shepherd and discover his job:
- Daily rounds (counting and caring for the cows, visiting the water troughs, etc.)
- Discovery of mountain fauna (marmots, vultures, chamois, wolves, etc.)
- Identification and gathering of wild edible plants for dinner around the fire
- Astronomy evening

Public: Families (children aged 8 and over)
Number of participants: 8/10 people maximum
Accommodation: Tipi and tent available, unguarded refuge, bivouac in the forest.
Tents, comforters and mattresses available on request.
Meals: Included in the price: aperitif and dinner on the first evening, breakfast and lunch on the following day (please bring a picnic for lunch on day 1).
Vegetarian cuisine and special diets possible (gluten-free, vegan ...)
Equipment : Hiking clothes and shoes. Warm jacket for the evening and a rain jacket. Backpack, water bottle, binoculars.
Tent, mattress and comforter if you wish to be self-sufficient.

Detailed description :

Welcome at the shepherd's hut at Col de la Croix between 10 and 11 am.
Presentation of detailed program. Visit and choice of accommodation.
Discovery of the mountain pasture, presentation of the animals and safety instructions (cow behavior, what to do ...).
12pm: Shared lunch at the hut or on the mountain pasture
1:30 to 4:30 pm: Short tour of the Col de la Croix area (observation, counting, cow care if necessary). Search for fossils, flints, etc.
4:30 pm to 7:00 pm: Gathering of wild edible plants and preparation of the meal around the campfire. Huts in the woods near the sheepfold for the children.
7 to 10:30 pm: Trapper's meal and stroll under the stars (learning to recognize the main constellations, a little mythology) ...

7:30am to 9am: Rise and breakfast
9:30 am: Departure with picnic lunch for a grand tour of the mountain pasture (scouting, identification and counting of animals, care if necessary, tour of drinking troughs and measurement of water flow, repair of fences ....).
12pm: Picnic on the mountain or at the Paille sheepfold
1pm to 3pm: Continuation of the tour and return to the Col de la Croix hut.
3pm to 4pm: Snack, assessment and end of tour
This indicative program will of course be adapted to the weather and emergencies in the mountain pastures, which take precedence over the schedule.
Sanitary facilities: The mountain pasture has no sanitary facilities (toilets and showers) accessible to the public. Instructions will be given at the start of your stay. Please use water sparingly.

- From the Grand-Ferrand picnic hut, climb up to the alpine pasture along the sentier de la Résistance (PDIPR yellow line markings): 400 m ascent approx. 1 hr 30 min.
Access by train from Clelles-Mens or Lus la Croix Haute stations, then charter a cab (contact on request).
