Lac Labarre
Alpine lake nestled at an altitude of almost 2395 meters in the middle of a remarkable and protected landscape.
In May, you can observe marmots and ibexes. From Valsenestre (Valjouffrey) cross the village and turn left... after the chapel (directional beacon). The path crosses a stream then rises gradually to reach the valley of Combe Guyon and the pastoral hut with its water point via the GR54B. Steeper it reaches the pastoral hut (water point) then on the western slope, allows you to reach the upper valley where the lake is located. Return by the same route.
Note: Possibility of continuing to the Col de la Roméïou and descending into the Vallon de la Selle, on the Périer.
Discover the church located in the heart of the village, rebuilt in 1875 and the entrance porch of the old medieval church which is still visible in the cemetery.
In the 19th century Valsenestre was populated by a hundred inhabitants, in 1926 the school then had around thirty students, in 1948 the last permanent resident left the village.
