"Le Miron de la Tour"- local chocolate
Homemade specialty from La Tour du Pin, made with nougatine, candied lemon and almond paste , topcoated with chocolate. Found in the chef's shops : Pâtisserie Galante, Pâtisserie Jas & Pâtisserie Vermare.
It is told that in the Middle-Age, we ret the hemp in the Bourbre, the stream flowing across the town.
This operation attracted many rats and the turripins had the idea to adopt plenty of cats to get rid of them. We called these cats the Mirons, and the nickname went to the turripins themselves. The cat became the symbol of the town.
Today, the Miron is a candy made with nougatine, preserved lemons, almond paste, and praline wrapped in chocolate.
Speciality of the town, this candy is made by the three bakers-creators who give it its special shape when they soak it in a “conche” with a fork.
Created to welcome the Colombians during the Fifa World Cup in 1998, the speciality of the town quickly conquered the sweet teeth of the world.
