Le Tour de l'Aup
Set off on a beautiful hike through forests and alpine pastures. A succession of Cols awaits you, offering panoramas each as beautiful as the next. The landscapes of the Trièves will seduce you.
A long hike offering the finest panoramas of the Dévoluy massif. An ideal setting for a day hike. Follow the paths through large, flower-filled mountain pastures and thick fir forests. The key words here are calm and contemplation of the landscape.

Park in the hamlet of Château Bas in the commune of Tréminis. Use the parking spaces near the village post office (beware, there are only a few spaces available). Start the hike by following the asphalt road towards Prébois (to the north). Find the "Château Bas" sign on the left-hand side of the road.
1) From the "Château Bas" post, follow the path towards "Le Laud". The first climb is a good one. Take advantage of the cool woods. A succession of bends across the old track leads to a gradual ascent. Follow the narrower path until you reach the "Petit Bois" post.
2) From the "Petit Bois" post, turn right onto a large, relatively flat forest track. Enjoy the occasional view of Ménil and Dévoluy. Follow the track to the end, where it becomes a smaller footpath. Continue, and another pleasant climb through the forest awaits you. Leave the forest for a wide path offering views of the Trièves. Continue to the "Le Laud" signpost.
3) From the "Le Laud" post, take the forest track on the left towards "L'Aup". After a few hundred meters, you'll come to a mountain pasture. Enter the mountain pasture and pass through the various fences - do not disturb the grazing animals. Walk past the sheepfold to the "Chalet des pâtres" post.
4) From the "Chalet des pâtres" follow the signs for "Col Astier". Turn left along the fence. Find a path leading uphill to the mountain pasture. Arrive at the "Col Astier" post, and enjoy the view of the Trièves from behind.
5) From the "Col Astier", go straight ahead on the alpine pasture path towards the "Col des Fouerous". This very pleasant passage allows you to pass between two mountains, on the left the Aup, on the right the Rognon. When you reach the Col des Fouerous, you'll be treated to a magnificent view.
6) From the "Col des Fouerous" head for the "Collet de la Chante", taking the path continuing south into the Alpine pasture. From this balcony, you can enjoy several kilometers of breathtaking views over the Dévoluy. Continue straight on to the "Collet de la Chante" signpost.
7) From Collet de la Chante, you enter the Vercors Regional Nature Park. Take the path on the left to reach the Col de la Chante, not far from here. Cross an undergrowth and you'll arrive at the Col de la Chante. An ideal spot for a picnic or a break.
8) From Col de la Chante, turn left towards Tréminis-Château Bas. Cross the alpine pasture to reach a large forest. Follow the yellow markings (be careful, the slope is steep and there's a risk of slipping). A succession of paths and forest tracks await you. Further down, you can stop off at the Marais du Pravet nature reserve. Follow the asphalt road to the Barthalay sawmill, where a small exhibition explains woodworking. Continue along the road back to the hamlet of Château Bas.
