-FITILIEU
Access via Les Abrets-Fitilieu train station (+2km round trip).
Pass through the village of Fitilieu to the hamlet of Les Bruniaux. The path and small country roads wind through cultivated fields and small copses, and lead directly to the Malseroud pond, classified as a sensitive natural area.
This wetland is ideal for birdwatching (coot, great crested grebe, grey heron, purple heron, etc.), dragonflies, frogs and more. Possibility of walking around the pond. An educational booklet entitled "L'étang de Malseroud" is available from the Tourist Office and at www.tourisme-valsdududauphine.fr.
PLEASE NOTE: DOGS MUST BE KEPT ON A LEASH to ensure the peace and quiet of the species being preserved.
After the pond, look out for the handsome brick tower of Château de Donat, the last remaining reminder of the residence built around 1870. You pass a number of farms and then reach a wide, shady track through the marshes, with the river Bourbre on your right. Finally, an alternation of paths and small roads, some of them in woodland, takes you back to Fitilieu.
