Place de Verdun
Military parades are still held at this former ceremonial square for the Second Empire (formerly called the Place d'Armes), and this town centre square is evidence of the town's particularly formal organisation!
The Préfecture and the former library museum are particularly worth a visit, for their ashlar facades with a wide variety of architectural references (Antiquity, Renaissance...). The latter housed the Musée de Grenoble until 1993.
Today, it houses the Plateforme, an information center on the city's urban projects.
