Réserve Naturelle des Hauts de Chartreuse
The 4450-ha Hauts de Charteuse Nature Reserve was set up in 1997 to faciliate the preservation, management and study of the ares's fauna, flora and landscapes. This vast monument to mother nature extends from Mont Granier in the north to the Dent de Crolles in the south.
Ther reserve's cliffs and pastures harbour more than 820 species of animals, including several very rare species (e.g., pygmy owlets, black grouse). Its mission is to protect and manage the area so that activities it supports (livestock farming, forestry, hiking, etc.) are compatible with the preservation of the fauna, flora and landscape.
As a nature reserve, the area is subject to specific regulations. Please help us protect the Hauts de Chartreuse.
Activities that are not permittes included : Dogs even kept on a lead, the picking of plants, fires, the campsite, the deposit of waste and the access in vehicle motorized.
