Rue de la Muette

  • Historic site and monument

This narrow street in the old town is paved with "cat's head" cobblestones. It allowed villagers to fetch water without having to pass through one of the gates, Porte Murine and Saint Symphorien.

It probably takes its name ("Mute Street") from the fact that it offered a way of leaving the town without being seen.
