Sermérieu Church

  • Historic site and monument

The old Romanesque church was replaced during the 1870s by an enormous neo-Gothic structure built by Alfred Berruyer who was a student of the architect Viollet-le-Duc.

The church is lit by two vast stained-glass windows, one of which features Saint Sebastien (the church's patron saint, although the parish falls under the patronage of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption). Next to him is Saint Bruno, the Carthusian order having contributed to the funding.
