The 4 lakes
A journey through the heart of a deeply “natural” and rural country dotted with mountain pastures, meadows, lakes and forests, but still marked by centuries-old mining activity, now abandoned, which helped to shape the landscape.
From La Mure, go down the main street, then turn left onto the D114 to reach Nantes-en-Rattier. At the roundabout, take the D115 towards Villard-Saint-Christophe and Cholonge. Staying on the D115, continue to Laffrey, where you will cross the famous Route Napoléon (traffic light). Join La Motte d’Aveillans via Saint-Jean-de-Vaulx and Notre-Dame-de-Vaulx via the D113. At Notre-Dame-de-Vaulx, direction Le Majeuil then Le Molard via the D113/b, then the D529 will take you to the entrance to Monteynard where you will have to go down left to La Motte Saint Martin via the D116/b . The grandiose panorama of Lake Monteynard, the main peaks of the Vercors and Mont Aiguille will accompany you throughout the winding descent. At the La Motte-Saint-Martin swimming pool, continue towards Marcieu/Mayres Savel via the Corniche du Drac to reach Saint Arey and Prunières. The climb to La Mure will take you past the theater, and the Notre-Dame de l'Église church. 'Assomption, before taking you back to your starting point via the climb to Breuil, the ultimate test for counter athletes.
