The castle of straw, which can be reached through a tiny street facing the city hall, is the name given to the burg which developed at the base of the rocky spur.

It is situated on a sloppy and confined area which is protected from the flooding of the Romanche. A part of this neighbourhood with thatched roof was destroyed by a fire.
