The Durand farm in crossing
Located on the foothills of the Vercors, this rather sportive crossing will allow you to admire the very beautiful landscapes of the city and the south of the Chartreuse. Easily accessible by public transport.
The start of this outward hike is at the Château de Sassenage, towards the cliffs of Vercors and its famous anticline overlooking the city. Go around the park on the left and then head towards Rivoire de la Dame. Along the way, you will pass the gates of the magnificent Château de Beaurevoir, whose park you will then walk along.
Continue to climb towards the Gorges, the coasts, then Pont Charvet and its memorial, steeped in the history of the Second World War. You will set foot on a good secure path at first because it adjoins the cliff.
The path then goes deep into the forest for a long climb, bending near the Durand farm, at an altitude of 850m. This will be the moment, during the break, to take very beautiful photos of a wide panorama of the Charterhouse but also the Belledonne massif, overlooking the Grenobloise conurbation. The descent will take place on your left, on an east slope, among oaks, beeches and many other plants illustrating the richness of this sector. Towards the 460m level, at the intersection, take towards the saber stroke whose name evokes the narrowness of the passage between 2 rocks: a geological curiosity. All you have to do is cross the hamlet of La Poya.
Take the time to admire its old sundial (in the hamlet of La Poya rue de l'Abbé Vincent on the right on the way down), magnificently restored. Reach the terminus of tram A along the beautiful La Poya park. It is also possible to reach Sassenage by taking the street that runs along the cliff.
