Voyage en balcon est
There are corners of the Grenoble metropolis that are far from urban.
Under the ridges of Gerbier, on the eastern balconies of the Vercors, the itinerary proposed here, to be avoided if there is still snow or in periods of frost, is to be done at the first rays of the sun.
From the place des Justes, go up the forest road to arrive very quickly at the crossroads of Le Prévent (alt. 935 m), where you turn right on the road to Baléyère. Six hundred meters further on, at the Baléyère hiking sign (alt. 1,006 m), leave the road and take the "chemin des Narcisses" on the left towards Lallier. As the path becomes grassy, at the fork in the road, go right to join the forest road at Lallier (alt. 1029 m). Continue on the opposite side of the road in the direction of the Prélenfrey wood and continue uphill, always following the yellow and green markings. You will cross the forest road three times. At the second time, go up the road for 50 m to take the path in the undergrowth on the left. After crossing the asphalt one last time, the path joins a wide track that you take on your right. As the trail narrows, you reach an intersection and take a left for a steady climb that leads you to a new track, which you cross to continue on. A hundred meters higher up, you arrive on a large crossroads of tracks. Here you are at the Bois de Prélenfrey (alt. 1 443 m). The itinerary continues above, in the direction of "Sous le Ranc des Gnelons". Be careful, the rest of the itinerary is not recommended in winter. Another hundred meters of ascent, and you are now under the Ranc des Agnelons (alt. 1530 m), where you turn left towards the Baraque des Clos. At La Pierre des deux heures (alt. 1 587 m), continue your crossing in the direction of the Baraque des Clos by the upper path, then at the sign l'Éboulis (alt. 1 602 m), go down on the left to reach very quickly the Baraque des Clos (alt. 1 557 m). Just before the shelter, the path makes a hairpin turn on the left, to go down towards Prélenfrey. This is where you reach Les Clos (alt. 1 366 m), where you continue on the downhill trail. You arrive on the asphalt of the forest road, Les Bordeaux (alt. 1 310 m). Take on the right, under the barrier, the flat track, and as it goes up, continue straight on a small path towards the source of the combe du Lynx. The path goes up a little and joins a track that you take on the left to lose altitude. Go straight down until you reach the road at Chaussoney (alt. 1,188 m), then across the road to La Halle (alt. 1,030 m) where you turn left towards the village noted at 1 km. In Maubourg, turn right towards Chamou, and rejoin the road at the village tennis courts. You continue your descent until the crossroads of Chamou (alt. 947 m), and take on the left the "chemin de Chamou", which brings you back to the church in less than 5 minutes.
Variation : it is possible to shorten the loop by leaving from the parking of the place called Des Bordeaux.
